I was standing behind the camera, trying to keep it centered and focused, as I felt overwhelmed by the Spirit. I was watching each person step down, grab the hand of our pastor, and be baptized. They buried their old life of sin and self and were resurrected in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Tears welled up in my eyes and my hands shook as I watched the second young woman step down with tears in her eyes. Foundational metamorphosis took over her soul, but Christ’s love and joy were written all over her face. I watched her body submerge in the water as she was supported on both sides by Pastor Coon and Pastor Bowman. Then I watched as she arose out of the pool with large smile and streaks streaming down her face, a mixture of tears and water. The Holy Spirit was so alive and present today; He was in my soul jumping for joy. He was so joyful and so alive that my heart was beating out of my chest and tears were welling up in my eyes. What a privilege to watch my brothers and sisters in Christ get baptized! With each special baptism, the Holy Spirit rejoiced even more within me. I was feeling joyously overwhelmed with love and excitement from the Holy Spirit’s celebration.
Hallelujah! A spiritual resurrection occurred at Calvary today. Over twenty of our brothers and sisters in Christ were baptized! The Holy Spirit descended from Heaven. He merged with the souls of our new family members who were baptized today. Water baptism is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Submersion in the water is symbolic of being buried with Jesus. Then in a symbol of the resurrection, they are raised out of the water into new life. The whole event is a spiritual resurrection of a person who was once dead to sin and is now alive to Christ. Our brothers and sisters, young and old, were resurrected in The Spirit just life our Savior. They are now signed and sealed by the Holy Spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit was alive and present in a very unique way today at Calvary. And we, as a family of Christ, were able to witness and celebrate in our sanctuary the power and transformation that occurred!
